What's Going On?

I knew something was up when there were SWAT teams and metal detectors up at the Verizon Center. Barack Obama was chilling courtside tonight to watch the worst team in the Eastern Conference, the Washington Wizards, upset playoff contender and Obama-favorite Chicago Bulls. Obama is the first president to attend an NBA game [in decades?].

How could ESPN do that to us? ESPN's Friday night headline announced that the Minnesota Gophers specifically are going to be excluded out of March Madness. Of all the teams to single out? Yo, the committee hasn't voted yet.

....And then to top off the young weekend. Stephon Marbury, after sitting out most of last season and the nearly all of the 2008-2009 season, resolved his $20 million contract buyout with the New York Knicks in time to make his debut as a Boston Celtic tonight. Da Kids, Marbury and Garnett are set to reunite, all in due time, to finally win the championship that was prophesied more than a decade ago

Blame it on the ah ahhh ah ah

Jamie Foxx and T-Pain's music video for "Blame It." The song is alright. I have to recommend watching the first 30 seconds of the video. You will be baffled by the cameos. I promise. Director Hype Williams and Foxx really stretched Hollywood to pick these.

Kid Cudi - " '09 Freestyle "

Cudi flows over Rich Boy's "Drop." Listen for the last few bars.

This Kid is the Future of Soccer

I sure hope 6-year-old Madin Mohammed hasn't peaked yet.

Cash Money

Newspapers are going bankrupt and ceasing publication. The way stories are written in newspapers you would think that the world of news was crumbling. But, the public has just moved online. While newspapers are lost trying to figure out how to charge user fees, bloggers have found ways to capitalize on CPMs.

Here is the list that 24/7 Wall Street put together of the most valuable blogs.

1. Gawker - $170 million
2. Huffington Post - $90 million
3. The Drudge Report - $48 million
4. Perez Hilton - $32 million
5. Sugar, Inc. - $27 million

Click here to read the rest of the Top 25.

What I actually don't know is the value of newspaper websites like the Wall Street Journal, New York Times and Washington Post. They might bring in more ad revenue than blogs, but the scary figure is that these blogs are creating such high revenue without the high expense of expert journalists. Perez, as a self-made blogger last year made $32 million. Crazy.

Nike SB March Releases

Head over to Hypebeast to see the rest of the March 2009 Collection.

Did he announce the wrong name?

2009 Oscar nominee Marisa Tomei won an Academy Award back in 1993 for her supporting role in My Cousin Vinny. But, was she actually voted the best actress in a supporting role?

According to the Huffington Post,
"In the realm of legend, Marisa Tomei's 1993 win for Best Supporting Actress in "My Cousin Vinny" was long rumored to be a mistake, due to presenter Jack Palance calling out the wrong name rather than "real" winner Vanessa Redgrave. The Academy has long insisted that Tomei was the genuine winner."

Snopes.com calls this rumor false. Although, it doesn't sound impossible.

Click here to see the list of winners from last nights 81st Academy Awards. Proud to see Sean Penn, Kate Winslet and Heath Ledger win.

Funny People

Might not look funny, but if this movie was written and directed by Judd Apatow and got Adam Sandler, Seth Rogen and Jonah Hill to star it could be good, right?

Mickey Rourke

You won't see an acceptance speech tonight like the one Mickey Rourke gave at last nights Independent Spirit Awards.

The Oscars are on ABC tonight at 8 EST.

I Knew it

Jaguars are alive.

Border patrol cameras have supposedly caught photos. And now a camera trap in central Mexico has captured photographs of the elusive jaguar. Thought to have been extinct in North America due to their disappearance for the past 100 years, but we all should have known better.

Their crepuscular nature and keen senses for hunting make these felines too elusive for the human eye.

Watch out. Mountain lions lurk in every one of our United States.

Inglourious Basterds

The first teaser trailer for Quentin Tarantino's World War II film, Inglourious Basterds, which will premier at the Cannes Film Festival in May.

What could become the biggest issue of Obama's Administration

Johann Hari, columnist for the London Independent and the Huffington Post, raises his concern for Mexico's rising violence and corruption. As our economy faces another Great Depression our nation must face the issue of drug prohibition as it faced alcohol prohibition in it's first.

In the words of 1930's columnist Franklin Adams

"Prohibition is an awful flop.
We like it.
It can't stop what it's meant to stop.
We like it.
It left a trail of graft and slime,
It don't prohibit worth a dime,
It's filled our land with vice and crime,
Nevertheless, we're for it."

Picture of the Night

The end of the rainbow.

Mutual Respect

ESPN makes basketball look like an ancient game of destiny.

I love Kevin Garnett and the Boston Celtics, but I really hope that the NBA Finals come down to the Lakers and Cavs this year.

Stuntastic

Kanye West responds to the internet slander of his clique's recent wardrobe choices out at Paris fashion week. I would never really post some interview like this, but he starts freestylin on this cool beat at the end. Watch it.

No one can really diss me is cause it's so authentic
You can't take away from the real
If I'm telling you exactly the way I feel
Is something that can't be killed
So every time y'all talk I just really need to chill
I come off the top hotter. Hotter what I gotta
Travel the planet a lot of people 'ont understand it
They mind is boxed in. They locked up
And I got the game knocked up
It's about to drop a baby in about 9 months
I could rhyme or give 'em what whatever you want
With my boy Sway hey my name is 'Ye
And every time I dress in pink they try to say I was gay
And then I wore tight jeans and everybody want to do it
You got to take the game and just move it
Real shit here and I'm prove it
I'm the only one like Nike to Just Do It
Everybody else scared to just be they self
So they dress up in the mirror like somebody else
Ok, I'm the only one that's hard enough
And, not frontin up, and
Button ups was nothing up cause
I shutting up all the motheruckin talkers
Now y'all know I got a lot of girl stalkers
Sipping the Jimmy Walkers

Quest for the G

After playing out those lame black-and-white G ads all January, Gatorade has come back hard with the most entertaining series of commercials that I can think of.

"The Quest for G" is a series of 6 episodes that can be watched in succession here. Starring Kevin Garnett, Derek Jeter, Usain Bolt, Jimmie Johnson, Alicia Sacramone, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Misty May-Treanor, Kerri Walsh and the JabbaWockeez. It is a sort of fairy tale parody of Monty Python featuring some dancing, good humor and great production.

UPDATE:

The god himself, Michael Jordan, shines for a little cameo at the end.

Lebron James, First Since 1975

Two nights after Kobe Bryant dazzled New Yorkers dropping 61 points, 3 assists and 0 rebounds (breaking the Madison Square Garden record for most points scored) Lebron James showed him out.

52 Points, 11 assists and 10 rebounds. James becomes the first player to score over 50 points while recording a triple-double since Kareem Abdul-Jabbar did it 39 years ago!!!!!!!!

This makes Sundays match up all the bigger. Kobe's Los Angeles Lakers will visit Lebron's Cleveland Cavaliers this Sunday at 3:30 pm ET on ABC.

The Cavs' are 23-0 at home this season. The only team in the NBA that is undefeated at home.
