The NBA in 2010-11

Based off of the ESPN - 2009 Mock Lottery Draft.

Washington Wizards: PG Ricky Rubio, SG Gilbert Arenas, SF Caron Butler, PF Antwan Jamison

Minnesota Timberwolves: C Hasheem Thabeet, C Al Jefferson, PF Kevin Love

New York Knicks: SG Stephen Curry, SF Lebron James

Pistol Pete Maravich

Bear in my mind, I'm citing Wikipedia.

"He is still the all-time leading NCAA Division I scorer with 3,667 points scored and an average of 44.2 points per game. He accomplished this without the benefit of a three-point line and despite the fact that NCAA rules prohibited him from playing on the varsity team as a freshman.

Years later former LSU head basketball coach Dale Brown charted every college game Maravich played, taking into consideration all shots he took. The coach calculated that at the NCAA rule of a three-point line at 19-foot (5.8 m), 9-inches from the rim, Maravich would have averaged thirteen 3-point scores per game, which would have given the player a career average of 57 points per game.

Maravich died suddenly at age 40 as a consequence of a previously undetected congenital heart defect. His last words, spoken less than a minute before he was stricken and died, were "I feel great.""

Where the Wild Things Are

The Three Stooges

Rumor around the internet is that the Farrelly brothers (Dumb & Dumber, There's Something About Mary, Me, Myself & Irene) are set to start filming an adaptation of the classic 1930's slapstick comedy, The Three Stooges.

The rumor, which is being sourced all over, has Sean Penn, Jim Carrey and Benicio Del Toro starring as the trio.

What about Kevin Durant?

ESPN is throwing all the praise and hype to Lebron James. Possibly better or will eventually be better than Jordan? Lebron is averaging 28.6 ppg, 7.6 boards and 7.3 assists this season [his 6th] compared to Jordan's greatest season average of 35.0 ppg, 5.5 boards and 5.9 assists. But, what about up and coming Kevin Durant?

In his second season Durant is averaging 26 ppg, 6.6 rebounds 2.9 assists per game may not stack up to Lebron's second year stats of 27.2 ppg, 7.4 boards and 7.2 assists it still outshines Jordan's 22.7 pgg, 3.6 rebounds and 2.9 assists in his 2nd season in the NBA.

Known for his ability to score in any situation; Durant's stats show that he could become one of the greatest basketball scorers of all time.

Kevin Durant 2008-09 - FG% .484, 3P% .440
Dwayne Wade 2004-05 - FG% .478, 3P% .289
Lebron James 2004-05 - FG% .472, 3P% .351
Michael Jordan 1985-86 - FG% .457, 3P% .167
Kobe Bryant 1997-98 - FG% .428, 3P% .341

Still the Greatest Show on Earth

McDonald’s sales are up, Wal-Mart revenues have bounced, and the movie industry has seen a box office surge in audiences and ticket sales.

“For many families now a trip to Disney World is out of the question, but a drive to Ringling can give the kids a vacation for an afternoon.”

Aftermath Records is Really Back

How many times have we been told Eminem is back? Infinite 2 is coming? Detox is coming?

After the success of Eminem, Dr. Dre and 50 Cent's "Crack a Bottle," it looks like we will finally get a new Em' LP. Relapse, as it is titled is scheduled to be released May 19, 2009. The above photo is from the music video shoot for the first single off the album, "We Made You." The song is produced by Dr. Dre. Apparently the song does not feature either Dre or 50 Cent. They are just in the video. Rap Basement claims the song will leak online soon and that we'll see the video in a couple weeks.

Sin Nombre

Coming to theaters this weekend.

'Kobe Doin' Work'

Auteur Spike Lee has directed a day in the life documentary of Kobe Bryant that will premiere on ESPN on May 14 or 16 [it is unclear].

Below, you can listen in on an ESPN interview with Spike from the day following Kobe's 61 point performance at Madison Square Garden. Spike is known for kicking it courtside at Knicks games a la Jack Nicholson/L.A. Lakers style. The documentary is briefly mentioned.

Any fan of He Got Game, the NBA, basketball or American pop culture should look into this.

Creative Genius: Dave Eggers

Dave Eggers is most famously known for writing the Pulitzer Prize finalist memoir, A Heartbreaking Work of Staggering Genius, the National Book Critics Circle finalist novel, What is What: The Autobiography of Valentino Achak Deng, for ESPN The Magazine and for founding American publishing house McSweeney's.

Eggers next big move is movies. Coming first is the June release of Away We Go. Eggers wrote the film with his wife Vendela Vida. The story is of a young married couple traveling across the United States to find the perfect place to raise their newborn child. The movie is starring SNL's Maya Rudolph, The Office's John Krasinski and Maggie Gyllenhaal. The most amazing thing going for this movie is film auteur Sam Mendes [of American Beauty and Revolutionary Road / husband of Kate Winslet fame] directed the piece. You can watch the trailer below.

And then coming later this year is the long anticipated film adaptation of Maurice Sendak's Where the Wild Things Are. Adapted by Eggers the film is directed by Creative Genius: Spike Jonze and will star James Gandolfini, Forest Whitaker and Paul Dano. The film's poster was released earlier today.

Dave Eggers is definitely on his hustle.

Indie Movies Worth Seeing [Maybe]

Kristen Stewart is hot. No release date for cake eaters, but you can check out Kristen in a couple weeks [April 3] in the Superbad director's new film, Adventureland.

It's like the real life documentary of Eastbound & Down.

It won the Cannes Festival Knockout Prize [not sure if they invented that prize strictly for a boxing movie]. But, this movie is getting pretty good reviews.

No release date for TYSON yet.

The Watchmen

Out today. Intriguing story. Visually amazing.

But, I will warn in all seriousness that this movie had the most gratuitous nudity, sex and violence that I've ever seen in a mainstream movie.

From a pop culture standpoint, I figure everyone should go see it.

Star Trek

Coming out May 8, 2009. Looks epic.

The saddest story of our time

He got his fair share of 15 minutes.
