UPDATE: More Banksy up in the N.O., L.A. before Gustav Comes Storming through

In the spirit of New Orleans and the looming hurricane. I'm putting up a link to a good old jazz song I enjoy listening to. Reminds me of being at the House of Blues. The acoustics are nice.

I've also wanted to share this video. Hopefully you were 1 of the 38 million Americans who watched Thursday night.

Banksy - New Orleans

In the days before the third anniversary of Hurricane Katrina (August 29th) 6 grafitti paintings appeared throughout the city of New Orleans believed to be done by infamous British graffiti artist Banksy.

The majority of the works are depictions of the aftermath of the hurricane; however, some relate to famous New Orleans graffiti artist "Gray Ghost" (known for painting gray over local graffiti).

This phone looks tight

In sadder news today, the IOC announced that they have no proof that China's gymnasts are underage. Nastia Liukin will remain robbed of the uneven bars Gold medal. When China's He Jexin (age 14) tied her score to the thousandth-point and a controversial tie-breaker rewarded China's youngster with the Gold medal. :(

FOR ALL YOU LOVERS OUT THERE..........

Josh Brolin's that dude

I never heard of Josh Brolin before 2007, but I became a fan that year after seeing him in films Planet Terror (Robert Rodriguez Grindhouse) and No Country for Old Men (The Coen Brothers).

He was also in American Gangster but I wasn't the biggest fan.

But, hey coming October 17th is Brolin's biggest role yet as the lead in Oliver Stone's newest film W. as President George W. Bush.

I previously posted the trailer for the film. You can check that out here.

And now Access Hollywood has released nearly 4 minutes of filmed material of Brolin's portrayal. Check out and tell me what you think.

Oh he's good

20 MOVIES Coming Out This Winter

Baz Luhrmann's Australia

EW.com has just recently posted their list for the "20 Fall Movies We Can't
Wait to See."

This reminds me of the pre-internet days when we would pick up the latest Entertainment Weekly issue whenever they said Summer Movie Preview or Fall Winter Preview and you'd learn and get excited for all the upcoming movies.

Take a look and get excited for these 20.

W (Oct. 17) Oliver Stone
I'm not going to link this one, but High School Musical 3
Changeling (Oct. 31) Clint Eastwood
Australia (Nov. 14) Baz Luhrmann

I remember thinking earlier this year that this winter would be dissapointing. Especially because the last few years have been so great (2006: The Departed, Babel, Blood Diamond, Pan's Labyrinth, Children of Men  2007: No Country for Old Men, Michael Clayton, There Will Be Blood, Juno) and how this summers movies were so great (Dark Knight, Wackness, Iron Man, Step Brothers, Pineapple Express, Tropic Thunder, Vicky Cristina Barcelona*), but reading this list I got my weekends planned from here till Christmas!!!!!!!!

*Just saw Woody Allen's new movie this weekend Vicky Cristina Barcelona starring Javier Bardem, Scarlett Johannsen, and Penelope Cruz. Definetly worth seeing.

Leprechaun found in Mobile, Alabama!!!!!

Who has all seen the leprechaun say yeahhhhh!!!!!

YEAHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Peep the amateur sketch.

Props to my little brother for this amazing find.

I want the gold.

Getting Psyched

Tonight on NBC Olympics is my personal event the 100m Freestyle. After watching the World Record get broken by AUS Eamon Sullivan leading off the 4x100 Free relay and Jason Lezak swim the fastest 100 free split ever anchoring the American relay to gold I am more excited than ever for this race.

After last nights semi-finals the final 8 swimming the finals of the 100m Freestyle should be seeded like this.

1) Lyndon Ferns RSA  48.00
2) Stefan Nystrand SWE  47.91
3) Pieter van den Hoogenband NED 47.68
4) Eamon Sullivan AUS  47.05
5) Alain Bernard FRA  47.20
6) Matt Targett AUS  47.88
7) Jason Lezak  USA  47.98
8) Cesar Cielo BRA  48.07

What a fast field. The all-time top 10 list has now re-shaped to this.

1)  Eamon Sullivan  AUS  47.05
2) Alain Bernard  FRA  47.20
3) Michael Phelps  USA  47.51
4) Brent Hayden CAN  47.56
5) Jason Lezak  USA  47.58
6) Pieter van den Hoogenband NED  47.68
7) Amaury Levaux FRA  47.76
8) Garett Weber-Gale  USA  47.78
9) Matt Target AUS  47.88
10) Stefan Nystrand  SWE  47.91
       Cesar Cielo  BRA  47.91

So 11 guys have now swam under the elusive 48-barrier in the 100 freestyle. A club so exclusive as of last year only 3 had ever broken in (Hoogenband, Bernard, Nystrand).

Hoogendband is the 2-time returning 100m freestyle champion (Sydney, Athens) and just last night swam his fastest time ever. Lezak has the fastest relay split ever by just under 6-tenths of a second (46.06) (good relay swimmers can drop 7-tenths with a relay start). However, it could require a lot of heart for Lezak to unleash the speed he used to overtake France's Bernard in that last 50 of the 4x100 Freestyle relay.

Bernard and Sullivan have exchanged the 100 World Record multiple times in the last few months, yet neither have medaled in individually at the Olympics. In fact, Hoogenband is the only swimmer in the final to have medaled individually.

My prediction is that multiple swimmers will break Sullivan's World standard set in the semi-finals expecting swimmers to amazingly dip under the 47 barrier.

G Eamon Sullivan
S Cesar Cielo
B Pieter van den Hoogenband

I have great expectations of Sullivan and Cielo (reigning NCAA multiple time 100 free champion). And Hoogenband has so much experience. I have high hopes for Lezak, but it would take a lot of heart for him to repeat the speed he used to overtake the French (that I'm not 2 fond of).

Good luck to all these swimmers. I hope they all swim fast!

Leave your own prediction in the comments.

"I'M SO DOPE BOY FRESH"

It's finally out and about.

THIS IS MY SHIT

Rick James and Eddie Murphy. Does it get any better than this?

Haha, I love the friends that sing and dance along.

GREATEST COMEBACK EVER

Video: "The Americans? We're going to smash them. That's what we came for," France's Anchor and former 100 freestyle world record holder Alain Bernard.

This was one of the most fun swimming races I have ever watched. Eamon Sullivan (50 free wr holder) of Australia led of the AUS 400 free team in a new 100 free world record of 47.24 breaking France's anchor Alain Bernard's world standard of 47.50.

Phelp's who led off the Americans in 47.51 was not too far behind Sullivan and only a hundredth of second behind the previous world standard. American Garrett Weber-Gale a native of Wisconsin and a Texas Longhorn established a lead for the Americans; however on the third leg France's Fred Bousquet (former Auburn swimmer, the first man to break the 19 second barrier in the 50 yard freestyle) tore open the then faster 100 free split ever 46.63 to give France over a half second lead going in to anchor legs.

The last swimmers of the gold medal contending teams: Alain Bernard and Jason Lezak were the big guns. Bernard the previous world record holder, Lezak the previous American world record holder. Bernard with a half a second lead. For the first 50 meters it appeared that there was no way Lezak could make up the ground. But what unfolded was unbelievable. You got to watch the video to understand.

Amazing fact: 5 teams broke the previous world record in the relay (which was set in prelims by the B-American team).

NEW NOTORIOUS B.I.G. VIDEO

Brilliant.

BLUEPRINT 3 BABY ON THE WAY

BLUEPRINT 3 from kwest on Vimeo.

Oh my. This is a great thing to wake up to.

The Blueprint is one of my favorite Jay-Z albums and the first that was primarily produced by Kanye West. It's actually the album that West broke through into the music industry.

I suppose bringing out Hov on the second night of the Glow in the Dark tour at Madison Square Garden and announcing this sets it in stone that this will be his next album.

UPDATE (from VH1): "... on a recent trip to Hawaii, West said he changed his M.O. While in the studio in paradise, he told himself, "Every beat I do is for this person.""

So excited.

EXTRA UPDATE: Listen to a radio interview of Jay with YN (from XXL Magazine)

GOT TO GET ONE OF THESE LOL

This is ridiculous. A prime example of consumerism being driven by image.

Since I bought my ipod touch I've been obsessed with the web apps available online. I've downloaded the free labyrinth and sudoku games. And bought the texas hold 'em and the koi pond (regrettable).

But, come on. An application set at $1,000 that does nothing but show how foolish you can be with your money. I'd love to see the sales of this app.

UPDATE: I just read Kanye talking about this app. on his blog. He was typing that this app is a work of art LOL

BEAUTIFUL

This view of Beijing, China is a firework display with the National Aquatic Center (the Water Cube) in blue and Beijing National Stadium (the Bird's Nest) in the right background.

The 2008 Beijing Olympics commence Friday 8/8/08 night at 8 P.M. (should be that time no matter what time zone you reside in). NBC has assured that this ceremony, which has a cast of over 15,000, will be the most spectacular ever.

LEBRON IS LIKE OLD MONEY NOW

Lebron James who has played for hometown NBA team Cleveland Cavaliers his entire professional career is planning his financial future once he can opt out of his current contract after the end of the 2009-2010 NBA season.

While the speculation was always hot that he would likely join the soon-to-be Brooklyn Nets (the planned franchise move from New Jersey) to align with his good friend Hova a.k.a. Jay-z a.k.a. Shawn Carter, now rumors are arising that James could take his game across the pond.

Russian team CSK Moscow and the Greek team Olympiacos have already contacted King James over the possibility. And ESPN reports that if a salary was offered near the $50 million mark per season the offer would strongly be considered.

Oh man that's a lot of money! I sure hope with that sort of offer it would strongly be considered. This outlandish number could never be matched by any NBA franchise due to salary caps that limits their ability to pay superstars more than $20 million per season.

Lebron is going to be filthy rich no matter where he signs in 2 years.

2 Funny

Alright, you got to watch these 2 videos in order.

The first, is a clip from the cantina scene in
Star Wars (1977). It's overdubbed with other voices than the original; however, it sets up the Robot Chicken parody perfectly.

The second clip, is from Seth Green's produced Adult Swim TV show
Robot Chicken.

Watch the 2 in order.
Hilarious.

BACK IN THE DAY WHEN I WAS A TEENAGER. BEFORE I HAD STATUS & BEFORE I HAD A PAGER.

Q-Tip of A Tribe Called Quest and Mos Def knocking out at the Rock the Bells concert in NYC.

Monday, August 4, 2008

When I was younger like junior high/high school my friends and I used to talk all day and dream of this collaboration!!

Nas brought out the big homie Jay-Z at tonight's Rock the Bells in NYC. For real though, Nas and Jay-Z were the hip-hop gods of my generation. I got mad love for Biggie and Pac but I was 2 young when they were BIG.

I love that Queensboro Nas is rocking the Mets cap and Hov is rocking the Yankees fitted. Those really are great metaphors for who they are and what their positions are in the hip-hop game.

Love how the front rows of the audience are wilding out.

Quentin Tarantino - Inglorious Bastards

picture jacked from Everything Tarantino

Yooooooo just finished reading the leaked screenplay for Quentin Tarantino's next project, Inglorious Bastards. And let me tell you it doesn't disappoint. Everything I expected. I won't do the favor of explaining of the plot details but any doubt of the authenticity of screenplay vanished when I read it. Vintage Tarantino writing.

The entire time I was reading it I was visualizing how it would be filmed. I've read that QT and Harvey Weinstein have sought out Brad Pitt and Leonardo Dicaprio for the lead roles of American Lt. Aldo Raine (Pitt) and German Hans Landa (Dicaprio). I am a-o-k with that casting.

Word is the film is set to start shooting in October with an anticipated release at the 2009 Cannes Film Festival!

If you are at all interested, download out the screenplay.

HAAAAA!!!!!!!!!

I wish I could blow the size of this picture up.

My 2nd Fav Movie of the Summer

This movie was my shit. I went crazy everytime a song came on in this movie. Some of all my time fav rap songs. The Notorious B.I.G. + Method Man's "The What", Craig Mack's "Flavor in Your Ear", Fresh Prince's "Summertime", Nas "The World Is Yours", Raekwon's "Heaven & Hell", R Kelly's "Bump & Grind", Biz Markie "Just A Friend", and Wu-Tang Clan's "Tearz".

I can't believe they had Heaven & Hell and Tearz in that soundtrack. Wow, really some of my favorite shit that I never knew anybody else really cared for. Damn.

They even had Juno's Mott the Hopple's "All the Young Dudes". Which connects to Olivia Thrilby star in Juno and the Wackness. I fell in love with her in this movie.

this movie is definitely worth seeing. Most Definitely.

Rumor of the Night
With all the blog hype following the speculated casting of Johnny Depp in the next Batman movie as The Riddler, word has come out that Depp's been cast as the Mad Hatter in T Burton's live-action 3-D epic Alice in Wonderland.

Sounds nice. I'm all psyched for next summer's big Dark Knight-like blockbuster Public Enemies directed by Michael Mann (Heat, Miami Vice) starring Depp (as John Dillinger), Christian Bale, and Channing Tatum.
