Coolest Library

Jay Walker, American entrepreneur and founder of Priceline.com and Walker Digital (networth of approx. $4 billion), has by far the coolest library I've ever read about or seen pictures of.

His library includes the Russian satellite Sputnik (first in space), ruby bound books, 1665 Bills of Mortality detailing Bubonic Plague deaths in London by week, the instruction manual for Saturn V the capsule used to land on the moon for Apollo 11, a framed napkin that Franklin D. Roosevelt wrote his plan to win World War II, an original copy of the Nuremberg Chronicle 1493 the first illustrated history book, 1535 Coverdale Bible the first to be completely translated into English, a chandelier used in the James Bond Die Another Day movie, a planetarium, a 16th century map that is the first to ever feature North and South America in the world, and so many other amazing things that definitely make this the coolest accumulation of eclectic worldly material I've ever heard of.

N.A.S.A. (North America/South America)

N.A.S.A (North America/South America) is a musical duo comprised of  Squeak E. Clean (Sam Spiegel brother of filmmaker Spike Jonze) and DJ Zegon. On their myspace page they announce that they are, "an international collective of muicians spanning a wide spectrum of musical genres." They definitely are too. Their debut album The Spirit of Apollo is scheduled to come out February 17, 2009.

And check out the crazy collaborations that will be on the album: David Byrne of Talking Heads, Chuck D of Public Enemy, Method Man, E-40, RZA, KRS-One, Tom Waits, Kool Keith, Kanye West, George Clinton, M.I.A., Santogold, Ghostface Killah, Del the Funkee Homosapien, The Cool Kids, Scarface, and DJ AM.

Look for more information at their:

This 2 cool too....... The ODB, Ol' Dirty Bastard is probably their main influence in music.

"New York's new hope"

Seriously, I hope this guy gets an album out there. All these mixtapes he keeps putting out are great. Listen to these.

And if you're feeling those. Look back at other CH songs I've posted.

Quote of the Night

"I like paying taxes. With them I buy civilization."

This was quoted from New York Times' Thomas L. Friedman's (author of The World is Flat) column this morning. His column, titled Palin's Kind of Patriotism, was one of the first critiques of Vice Presidential nominee and Governor Sarah Palin that I thought hit it completely on the mark. Check out an excerpt of the beginning below.

Criticizing Sarah Palin is truly shooting fish in a barrel. But given the huge attention she is getting, you can't just ignore what she has to say. And there was one thing she said in the debate with Joe Biden that really sticks in my craw. It was when she turned to Biden and declared: "You said recently that higher taxes or asking for higher taxes or paying higher taxes is patriotic. In the middle class of America, which is where Todd and I have been all of our lives that's not patriotic."

What an awful statement. Palin defended the government's $700 billion rescue plan. She defended the surge in Iraq, where her own son is now serving. She defended sending more troops to Afghanistan. And yet, at the same time, she declared that Americans who pay their fair share of taxes to support all those government-led endeavors should not be considered patriotic.

I only wish she had been asked: "Governor Palin, if paying taxes is not considered patriotic in your neighborhood, who is going to pay for the body armor that will protect your son in Iraq? Who is going to pay for the bailout you endorsed? If it isn't from tax revenues, there are only two ways to pay for those big projects - printing more money or borrowing more money. Do you think borrowing money from China is more patriotic than raising it in taxes from Americans?" That is not putting America first. That is selling America first.

Friedman later goes on to say...

How in the world can conservative commentators write with a straight face that this woman should be vice president of the United States?
