Brandon Jennings path to professional basketball and millions of dollars in salary and endorsements was falling apart last spring when he couldn't achieve NCAA suitable scores on the SAT test. With the NBA's new rules requiring athletes to be at least 1 year removed from high school, players such as Greg Oden, Kevin Durant, and O.J. Mayo have been playing a year in college ball before entering the draft. However, players like Brandon Jennings who is from the streets of Compton couldn't with his high school education pass his way to his University of Arizona scholarship. Instead he became the first out of high school player to sign a contract with a European team. He has this fall started playing for Italian team Roma.
David Stern says, "I actually think it's a pretty cool thing for a kid to do what he's doing."
