Yahoo! Sports and ESPN are reporting the New Orleans Hornets will be changing their mascot name to the Louisiana state bird Pelicans as soon as next season.
ESPN - "Report Hornets becoming Pelicans"
The decision is the choice of New Orleans Saints and Hornets owner Tom Benson and his wife, Gayle. Gayle also "added that the franchise would like to change the team colors from teal and purple to red, gold and navy blue"
Reports are also out that the Charlotte Bobcats and owner Michael Jordan are considering bringing the Hornets name back to Charlotte.
